Day 40: They Call Me Noah
May 20, 2017
Mile 493.03 Campsite to Mile 558.51 Tehachapi
“And God said to Gummies, ‘put all of the foods two by two into your food bag and devour them as you hike’. And Gummies obeyed.” It’s been 40 days and 40 nights fools! Aside from being down to my 8th grade weight and losing the vast majority of my manners not much has changed since I left the Circle City.
We woke up this morning to the sun rising and filling up the valley, illuminating Lancaster, CA. The trail angel that maintains the water cache that we camped at came by early with a pot of hot coffee and we all hung out and chatted with the trail angel before heading out for the 9 miles into town. Upon arriving at the highway we hitched a ride into town with a couple ladies who had went for a day hike out on the PCT. They were able to take us to a BBQ joint where we met up with Dr. McDirty and Cougar and ate lunch before booking a room for the next two night at the Best Western in town. We spent the afternoon doing laundry and chilling out while I watched the first day of Indy 500 qualifying. We then went out for Sushi and grabbed some beer for the evening. It’s so nice to be able to just relax after a tough last couple days. My body is beginning to reject the amount of miles I’m putting on it so I’ll give it a day tomorrow to rest up before another week of abuse.
Yee haw.
